Dr. Howard M. Haft, MD, MMM
Howard M. Haft is an accomplished American physician and healthcare executive with extensive experience in public health, healthcare management, and medical practice. He previously served as the Executive Director of the Maryland Primary Care Program and is currently the President of Somerset Primary Care in Crisfield, Maryland. Throughout his career, Dr. Haft has held various leadership roles aimed at improving healthcare delivery and serving diverse populations.
He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Rhode Island and attended medical school at Pennsylvania State University. His postgraduate training includes internships and residencies at Brown University, complemented by a master’s degree from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. Dr. Haft is board-certified in internal medicine and emergency medicine and has held academic positions at institutions such as the University of California, Davis, Georgetown University School of Medicine, and the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where he is currently an Adjunct Professor of Medicine. He is also a Certified Physician Executive and a Fellow of the American College of Physician Executives.
In his professional career, Dr. Haft founded and served as Chief Medical Officer of Conmed Healthcare Management, and has served as President of Maryland Healthcare and the Maryland Foundation for Quality Healthcare. He was Medical Director of Health Partners, Inc., and CEO of the Ellis Medical Group in New York. His public health contributions include serving as the Medical Planner for Maryland’s emergency management during the COVID-19 pandemic and providing emergency medical care during major disasters such as Hurricane Katrina and the Haitian earthquake.
Dr. Haft has also held significant public service roles, including Deputy Secretary for Public Health Services in Maryland and interim Executive Director of the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange. He resides in Crisfield, Maryland with his wife and has six adult children.
Brandon Milligan, Family NP
Brandon Milligan is a Family Nurse Practitioner, board certified in nursing practice. He earned his Master of Science in Nursing from Chamberlin College of Nursing in Downers Grove, IL, in 2023. Brandon completed his undergraduate studies at Western Governors University in Salt Lake City, UT, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2020. His education and dedication ensure he provides compassionate and comprehensive care to his patients.
Dr. Lana Sherr
Dr. Sherr is the Assistant Dean for Professional Affairs at UMES SOP, a role she has held since October 2017, and serves as the Residency Program Director for the UMES/Apple Discount Drugs PGY-1 Community Pharmacy Residency and an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy and Bachelor of Science degrees from Lebanese American University and completed a PGY-1 residency with a focus on Ambulatory Care and Public Health at Samford University. Prior to her current role, she practiced in ambulatory care clinics at Chesapeake Health Care in Maryland. Her work emphasizes student professionalism, continuing education, community service, and interprofessional collaboration, and she teaches pharmacotherapy and professional development courses. A member of ASHP, AACP, APhA, and other organizations, her interests include interprofessional education, post-graduate training, public health, chronic disease management, and professionalism in pharmacy. Additionally, Dr. Lana Sherr will offer Functional Medicine consultations every other Tuesday at our office; interested patients are encouraged to schedule an appointment.
